October 15-19, 2026

I’m still not making significant progress with this camera, and I don’t think I’ve improved substantially since Mt. Rainier. Pictures are quite overexposed, and I don’t know how to correct them accordingly for sunlight. The recipe I used was Bennett 800. I feel frustrated often, but I’m trying to not take the ‘easy way out’ with all auto-settings. Most pictures here have been edited in Lightroom (mainly auto, very few manual corrections).

This camera’s poor performance has become something of an inside joke, but little do they know… I keep having to convince my friends (Isha, namely) of the camera’s capabilities by showing them the subreddit’s top posts (which are supposedly all SOOC!), but this also has made me curious about what others are doing differently.

I’m wondering if this was even worth it. Everything felt so much more effortless with the Fuji, but I’m not sure whether that was because it had already been configured with custom settings, as I’d borrowed it from my brother, who readily puts in substantial effort into refining his pictures. Despite my improved understanding of photography, I feel my pictures don’t reflect that, especially against said Fuji shots. I also often see posts comparing the Ricoh with the flagship Fuji model, but the Fujifilm Monopoly™ is a whole other beast, so I’m still firm on the Ricoh being a better camera overall.

As always, I had a very fun trip, and I love my friends dearly! Cow-heavy shots because I love COWS!!!!!
